Having won several renowned international competitions the organist Tobias Horn (born in 1970) belongs to the leading German organists of his generation. Prizes as 2000 „L´ Europe et l´ Orgue“ in Maastricht/Liège/Aachen, 1st prize for interpretation and special prize for the best Bach interpretation (jury: Hakim, Trotter, Ghielmi, Szathmary, Fonteyn, Wolfs, Haselböck) and 2000 „Concours international Suisse de l´ Orgue“, 2nd prize (a 1st was not awarded) (jury: Laukvik, Bovet, Ablitzer, Heiniger) led to an intensive concert career: The artist regularly performs at internationally well-known festivals for organ (Nuremberg, Maastricht, Genova, Bergen, Festival Suisse de l’Orgue, Warshaw, Krakau, Nowy Sacz etc.) and played in concert on the great European organs, e.g. Laurenskerk Rotterdam, St. Jan ´s-Hertogenbosch, Cathedrals in Strasbourg, Vienna, Aachen, Antwerpen, Moscow, Haarlem, St. Gallen, Lausanne, Tallinn and Bergen. His US debut will be 2014.

Tobias Horn received his education from the very great of the organ world; among his teachers are Ludger Lohmann (organ) and Jon Laukvik (harpsichord). Specializing in French Baroque and Romantic Organ Music he studied intensively with personalities such as Jean Boyer (Lyon/Lille) and Ben van Oosten (The Hague/Rotterdam), which led to extensive knowledge in the field of romantic symphonic organ literature.

His repertoire belongs to the broadest repertoires and contains all great pieces of organ literature. Alongside the complete works of Bach he regularly performes all great works of Reger, Liszt, the complete works of Vierne and Widor as well as all the great works of Dupré. In addition all important works of early music und contemporary compositions, with several premieres, belong to his repertoire.

His Cd recordings with romantic organ music (e. g. Reger and Vierne) are issued at the distinguished labels Motette-Ursina and Ambiente and were praised by reviewers (e. g. „Organists´ Review“/Roger Fisher).

Radio recordings at big European broadcast stations (SWR, WDR, Deutschlandfunk, BBC Classic and ORF) testify his artistic work.

Tobias Horn’s musical activities and experiences cover a broad field:

Besides performing as concert organist, he is Lied accompanist and conductor and practiced and performed nearly all the great oratorios like “St. Matthew’s Passion” and “St. John’s Passion”, “Christmas Oratorio”, Mass in b-minor” and many cantatas by Bach; “Great Mass in c-minor” and “Requiem” by Mozart; “The Creation” and “The Seasons” by Haydn; “Requiem” by Brahms, Verdi, Fauré, Duruflé; “Les Béatitudes” by Franck, “Te Deum” by Dvorak and Bruckner, “Elias” und “Paulus” by Mendelssohn as well as many orchestral works by Bach, Mozart, Poulenc and Debussy.

His pedagogical experience reaches from pedagogue (2001/2002: substitute and assistant of Prof. Ludger Lohmann at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg, master classes at Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow) to church-musical basic work with amateurs.

For the upcoming years many cd recordings and international concert series are arranged.

Tobias Hornin kansainvälinen ura alkoi useiden kilpailuvoittojen jälkeen (mm. Maastricht v.2000). Hän on ollut säännöllinen vieras Euroopan merkittävimmillä urkufestivaaleilla. Hänen opettajinaan ovat toimineet merkittävimmät pedagogit (Lohmann, Laukvik, van Oosten jne). Tobias Hornin ohjelmiston runko käsittää Bachin, Viernen ja Widorin koko tuotannot. Hän levyttää arvostetuille Motette ja Ambiente levymerkeille ja hänen äänitteensä ovat olleet arvostelumenestyksiä. urkurin tehtäviensä ohella hän toimii musiikinjohtajana ohjelmistonaan suuri joukko merkittävimpiä kirkkomusiikin suurteoksia.
