Franz Danksagmüller (b. 1969) is an Austrian-born pioneer of organ music of our time. He studied organ, composition and electronic music in Vienna, Lintz, Saarbrücken and Paris. He has toured the international venues as a soloist as well as a part of different ensembles. In 2005 he was appointed Professor of Organ and Improvisation at the University of Music in Lübeck. Also, since 2015 he has held the title of Visiting Professor at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in China, and from 2018 he has been a Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His artistic output is characterized by the synthesis of the traditional canon of organ music and contemporary performances enriched with live-electronics.
