Master of Music Juhani Romppanen (born in 1963) studied church music and organ at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 1982-1989. In spring 1989 he passed the A examination on the organ under the guidance of Enzio Forsblom and Lasse Erkkilä. In autumn 1993 Juhani Romppanen gave his first concert in the Cathedral of Helsinki. Juhani Romppanen was elected ”The Young Artist 1995” in the Lahti International Organ Festival.

Romppanen has given concerts in several places in Finland, Germany, France, Italia, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Sweden and Estonia. In addition, he has made several recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company, and his first solo recording called ”Marcia” on the organ of Central Pori Church was published in summer 2002. Second recording “In Paradisum” was published in 2008 and third “Louis Vierne: Organ Works” in 2011.

From 1990 Romppanen has worked as the organist of Central Pori Church. He was the chairman of the Pro Organo Pori ry in 2000-2008 and worked as the secretary of the Central Pori Church Organ Committee in 2003-2007. Juhani Romppanen has been the artistic director of the Pori Organ Festival since 2005.

Juhani Romppanen received the “Luomuna”-award from Arts Council of Satakunta in the year 2009. In the same year the Archbishopric Chapter of Turku gave him the honorary title Director Musices.
