Organist Vesa Kajava graduated with a master’s degree in music from the Sibelius Academy in 2009. He completed his level A organ performance exam in 2008 under the guidance of Jaana Ikonen. Besides organ playing, Kajava has special expertise in improvisation, and he has completed all organ improvisation exams with excellent marks. Kajava performs in solo concerts, as a chamber musician and as an accompanist for church concerts. He has worked as a continuo player in several major works of church music. He has collaborated with many of Finland’s top singers. Currently, Kajava works as the organist of Kuopio Cathedral and as an art teacher at the Kuopio branch of the Sibelius Academy of the University of Arts, where he teaches organ performance, organ improvisation, and liturgical music.
